Put. That. Coffee. Down. Coffee is for people who come see SFoM tonight at Bushwackers

Always Be Closing

Alec Baldwin giving the most important sales lesson in history

Music, beer, laughter, a video game where you shoot deer – and on August 1, 2014, Bushwackers also has SFoM

That’s right, Denver’s favorite Turbo Rock band is back – SFoM. What is Turbo Rock you ask? It’s a new genre I just made up… I don’t know where I’m going with this…

but I know where I’m going TONIGHT (July 32, 2014) – To Bushwackers, at 1967 S. Broadway (Broadway and Evans). Doors open at 8, show starts at 9, SFoM bursts through John Hurt’s chest at 10. This spectacle costs $5, or 0.0083 BTC. Please don’t bring bitcoins though. This is analog music for the digital era.

SFoM is a Denver-area power trio. They have been hard at work for over 7 years bringing their brand of rock music to Denver, Boulder and beyond. SFoM has taken the music that inspires them and spun it on its head to create music so original that the cognoscenti say it has more therapeutic properties than medical marijuana. Furthermore, SFoM is 100 percent biodegradable, and will not stain carpet. But wait, there’s more! If you order one SFoM, you get the second SFoM for only one nickel.

Be sure to check them out at Bushwackers tonight, and tell all your friends that you’ve joined a cult afterwards. They’ll wonder where you’ve gone. There’s no stopping you once you’ve got that SFoM music in your head.

Once again, the pertinent details

  • SFoM Show!
  • August 1, 2014 (Tonight)
  • 10 pm (doors open at 8, and there are other bands)

About Bushwackers

Bushwackers is a hip little joint. Legend has it Bushwackers was a strip joint once. The stage has mirrors around it, so that makes sense. The bar is opposite the stage, and quite a bit lower than the average bar. The ample seating around the bar is comfortable, and a great place to enjoy beer and live music. There’s are vintage arcade games all around, if you’re interested in other recreational activities while listening to Denver rock. The patio out back has music pumped at a reasonable volume, and is a good place to catch some fresh air.

SFoM loves playing at Bushwackers. We don’t know what it is, but we’re comfortable there, and we perform well. Thanks to the Bushwack crew for supporting local Denver rock. GET DOWN, GET FUNKY! See you Saturday the 15th!

Venimos, Bushwackdimos, Vicimos (We Came, We Bushwacked, We Conquered)

Bushwackers last night… whoa. We opened Metal Night for a packed house in support of NDAAZ, Chainsaw Love Affair, and Ill Will. It was like the Renaissance Fair, only for metal. Big hair, leather pants, tattoos – full metal regalia.

With our chameleon-like musical powers, we were able to warm up the bar properly to the unattenuated levels of Breton’s Gibson/Marshall combination, Matty’s Sonors and K’s, and Berg’s 450-watts of overdriven bass. We also played fast and hard, leaving gallons of sweat on stage, and we did it without sacrificing the SFoM groove you’ve come to know and love.

Some highlights:

  • It’s easy to pack for and set up when the objective is playing as fast and as loud as you can
  • The awesome crowd and atmosphere
  • Chainsaw Love Affair’s resurrection of the Glam Metal sound
  • Our first performance of the new song “Damn Shame” kicked ass
  • Matty used a different drum setup and it sounded like the Guns of the Navaronne
  • The new sound guy kicked it up a notch with the new JBLs and improved house sound system
  • The after party
All in all, a good night for metal and SFoM. Here is the photographic record:
This is what it sounds like, when pterodactyls cry...

Tomb Raider Medipack

We want to thank everyone who made it to Bushwackers Saloon last night. Our Red Cross fundraiser was a big success – with the money at the door, and the extra donations made by fans we earned $255 to donate to the Japanese tsunami relief efforts.

We’d especially like to thank A Thief’s Plot and C4x for participating and donating their money also. It’s always great playing with C4x. They play the kind of music that gets played on Little Steven’s Underground Garage radio show.

Last night was the first show for the up-and-coming A Thief’s Plot. Their donation should make for some good rock karma. When I heard it was their first show, I told a few people they were noobs to the scene. When they started playing, I took it back, figuring I must’ve been mistaken. They were pretty good, and it was indeed their first show. They told me they rehearsed every night last week in preparation for the gig. They’re a bunch of cool guys, and we hope to play with them again.

We gotta give a shout out to Amish Combat who punked up the joint with a four-song set between A Thief’s Plot and SFoM. “There’s a supermoon tonight… and we’re gonna kill it.” Amish Combat is another musical project featuring SFoM’s own Matty Moore on drums.

Finally, a shout out to Tricia Smith for constructing the Red Cross donation box and making it look like one of those medipacks from Tomb Raider. Some highlights from the night:

  1. We raised some money to help people in dire need.
  2. Amish Combat… nuff said.
  3. A Thief’s Plot hit the ground running with their first show.
  4. C4x sounded great.
  5. Some new faces got a chance to check us out.
  6. Big, enthusiastic crowd.
  7. Bushwackers beer is actually pretty good. It’s a brown ale or something.  Not sure where it comes from…
  8. People ask about “Tell Me” every time we play it.
  9. We nailed “The Snake Song.”
  10. We got a couple more SFoM t-shirts out there.

Thanks again to everyone in attendance. Every little bit helps, and it means a lot to us that you came out and supported our effort to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

SFoM Wants To Help! Red Cross Fundraiser March 19 For Tsunami Relief in Japan

Last week’s 9.0 earthquake in Japan and the resulting tsunami are among the worst disasters we’ve ever seen. If that’s not enough, there are people working to stave off a nuclear disaster which has already been called worse than Three-Mile Island.

People lost their lives, and many who survived this disaster lost everything. Before Japan can even consider rebuilding, they have to deal with the present humanitarian crisis which includes shortages of power, food and shelter.

We are both humbled and proud to be working with the Mile-High chapter of the American Red Cross to raise funds for the massive relief effort necessary in Japan. We will be donating our proceeds from the door, and collecting donations to be turned over to the Red Cross on Monday. As always, we’ll have plenty of free CDs to hand out.

Come on down, have a beer, and rock out for a good cause. Your fellow man needs you!

Beneath the Extreme SuperMoon – SFoM Live at Bushwackers Saloon, Denver- March 19, 9 pm

Saturday, March 19, 2011: a date which will always be remembered…as the beginning of the End of Days .

What it's going to be like on March 19

There’s a full moon that night, but it’s also a full moon at perigee (when the moon is closest to the planet in its orbit). What’s special about this particular lunar perigee is that it will be the closest the moon has come to this spaceship we call Earth in 18 years.

The moon affects the ocean tides. When the moon is full, the planet experiences spring tides – the highest tides. Since the moon is on the opposite side of the planet from the Sun, the gravity of the Sun pulls the Earth one way and the moon pulls the Earth the other. The Earth gets pointy, like a football, and the water of the oceans is prone to these stresses.

The Earth’s plates are subject to tides as well, as they float atop the magma that comprises the mantle. The pressure on the Earth’s crust at the bottom of the oceans goes through stresses from increasing and decreasing water pressure caused by the heavier-than-usual tidal activity.

Since the moon will be much closer than usual, a mere 221,567 miles from here, the force of gravity between it and the Earth will also be increased, since gravity is based on the product of the masses of two objects divided by the radius of their centers of gravity squared. This means we can expect increased tidal activity in both the oceans and the land masses.

As the Earth experiences these forces, and the continental plates shift, and the oceans rise and fall, it’s easy to see why astrologer Richard Nolle might predict earthquakes and volcanoes.

There is one other force of nature that will be at work the night of March 19…That force is SFoM. We’ll be playing one of Denver’s favorite dive bars – Bushwackers Saloon – and we’ll FIGHT BACK against the forces of the “Extreme SuperMoon,” and make one final stand for Earth! The battle begins at 9 pm with newcomers Amish Combat, and the evening winds down with our friends C4x.

We hope to see you there… your planet needs you…
